Overview of Cambodian Cassava Starch Processing
In order to develop the cassava starch processing industry, Cambodia has actively cooperated with China and other countries to strengthen international economic and technical cooperation in all aspects of production, processing and sales. For example, Green Leader Holdings Group, an investment company based in Hong Kong, has established a tapioca starch processing plant in Cambodia.
By using new tapioca starch processing technology, Cambodia can increase the output and profit of tapioca starch processing, and can export the high-quality tapioca starch produced to countries such as Vietnam and China.
The new processing technology of Cambodian cassava starch is divided into the following parts:
Cleaning, cutting, grinding, separating, degreasing, concentrating, dewatering, drying, screening and packaging
Cleaning: Fresh cassava is first transported to a dry sieve through a belt conveyor to remove large impurities such as weeds and sand. Then, use a washing machine to wash away the impurities attached to the surface.
Cutting and grinding: Then use a cutter to cut the cassava into small pieces, and then use a high-efficiency wood mill to grind the cassava into pulp to release starch particles.
Separation: Afterwards, use a centrifugal screen and a fine fiber screen to remove fiber impurities in the cassava pulp.
Removal of sand: Then use a dust collector to cyclone to remove the sand from the cassava pulp to ensure the taste of starch.
Concentration and refining: The de-sanded cassava pulp is washed with a hydrocyclone unit to remove impurities such as protein and cell fluid, and then the starch milk is concentrated and refined.
Dehydration: Then use a spatula centrifuge to dehydrate the cassava milk. The moisture content after dehydration is about 38%-40%.
Drying: Dry the dehydrated cassava cake with a quick dryer to a moisture content of 18%.
Screening and packaging: screening the cooled starch, removing large particles to obtain finer starch, and then packaging the obtained starch for storage or sale.
Tapioca starch has strong competitiveness in the starch industry, and its market capacity and potential are huge. It has a broad market not only in Asia but also in European countries, so it is a promising industry. As a large-scale cassava producer, Cambodia has approximately 675 million hectares of cassava plantations and produced approximately 124.8 million tons of cassava tubers in 2017. If these cassava are widely
If it is widely used in the cassava starch processing industry to produce high-quality cassava starch, the cassava industry will gain more profits in Cambodia.
